Dance Education for
Year Three Children
From Year 3 onwards, students at Karen Blackburn Dance Academy in Hook enjoy access to a broader and more diverse range of classes and development pathways, designed to nurture their growing skills and passion for dance.

Our Year 3 dancers continue to build on their foundation with Ballet training through both the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) syllabus and the second year of the Royal Ballet School’s Affiliate Teacher Training and Assessment Programme (ATAP Level 1). This stage introduces repertoire, choreography, and optional assessments, deepening their classical ballet education.

Students also advance in ISTD Modern and Tap, with classes evolving to focus on individual styles, performance skills, strength, and musicality.

The programme further expands with exciting opportunities in Musical Theatre, Street Dance, Modern Jazz, and weekday Acro classes. Acro training progresses from basic moves, such as rolls and cartwheels, to more advanced skills, including walkovers and aerials, all taught with an emphasis on safe technique, flexibility, and strength.

Those attending two Ballet classes per week become eligible for RAD Ballet exams, supporting formal progression and achievement in dance qualifications.

To enrich their experience, selected Sunday Studio workshops and intensives provide additional opportunities for performance training and skill development, ensuring our dancers receive a well-rounded and inspiring education.
