Dance Education for
Year Five & Six Children
For Year 5 and 6 students at Karen Blackburn Dance Academy in Hook, the dance curriculum broadens to offer an extensive range of classes across multiple genres, providing a comprehensive and well-rounded dance education. Modern and Tap are now taught as distinct, focused disciplines, with an emphasis on preparation for ISTD examinations to support formal progression and achievement.

In addition to group classes, students can access private coaching sessions tailored for Ballet, Tap, or Modern, ideal for those committed to advancing their technique and working towards exam success. This personalised training helps refine performance skills, strength, and artistry.

With a strong foundation in core dance styles, students also continue to explore and develop versatility through supplementary classes in genres such as Contemporary, Musical Theatre, Street Dance, and Acro, ensuring they build creativity, confidence, and stage presence.

Students also benefit from supplementary Sunday Studio sessions, designed to enrich their weekly classes and provide opportunities to explore additional styles, deepen existing skills, and develop creativity and confidence in a supportive environment.

This programme at KBDA nurtures both technical skill and artistic expression, preparing dancers for higher-level opportunities and fostering a lifelong passion for dance.
