Dance Training for Years 7 to 9
 

​​Students in Years 7 to 9 can shape their training around their interests, goals and level of commitment. They may follow a recreational, examination or performance pathway, or combine elements of each.

Classes are available across Ballet, Tap, Modern, Contemporary, Jazz, Street Dance, Musical Theatre and Acro. As students progress, the training develops greater technical understanding, strength, musicality, creativity and individual performance style.

Dancers working at approximately RAD Grade 4 level may be considered for Intermediate Foundation, the first stage of the RAD vocational pathway. This requires additional ballet training and is recommended on an individual basis according to each dancer’s technical development, physical readiness, and commitment.

Optional assessments and examinations are available across selected disciplines. They provide a structured route for students who value formal progression but are not required to continue dancing or take part in performance opportunities at KBDA.

Private coaching may be arranged when there is a specific technical, examination or performance goal. Selected Sunday workshops, intensives and rehearsals also offer opportunities to explore different styles, work with guest teachers and prepare for additional projects.

At this stage, dancers are encouraged to take greater ownership of their training. Teachers provide clear and honest guidance to help each student choose a programme that supports both their current interests and longer-term ambitions.
