About Our Classes
Additional dance progressions and pathways are now offered for students from Year 3 and above, and students can take classes in Musical Theatre, Street Dance and Modern Jazz.

ATAP Level 1
KBDA is an affiliated school of the Royal Ballet School's Affiliate Teacher Training and Assessment Programme (ATAP). Dancers are now introduced to the second year of the ATAP two-year training programme. Click here to find out more.

Lessons now include repertoire and choreographic practice, and assessments are available to those students who wish to take them. Students will still progress to the next level with their peers if they do not wish to take assessments.

ISTD Modern & Tap Grades
Modern classes now develop students' vocabulary and increase flexibility, strength and performance skills. It is the foundation of the style often seen in West End shows. Students learn the ISTD Modern syllabus, where we combine Modern and Tap so that students can benefit from the different dance qualities both these dance styles provide. As children progress, these classes will separate into their own genres.
Tap dance is a fantastic way to develop musicality and is an exciting, percussive, rhythmical dance form often seen on screen and on stage in musicals. At this level, children learn more complicated rhythms with syncopation and improvisation tasks and lessons drawn from the ISTD Tap syllabus.

Acro (Year 2-6)
Acro classes are a great way for children to develop strength, flexibility, coordination and much more. Each class begins with a warm-up to target the muscles and ligaments that will be used during the class, and children will learn how to execute movements such as forward rolls and cartwheels, which will progress to more advanced moves such as walkovers and aerials once sufficient strength and technical knowledge has been achieved.
